The Center for Nursing Research & Innovation
Vision
The Center for Nursing Research & Innovation will catalyze,
synergize and optimize patient safety, nurse staffing effectiveness
and strategic performance improvement through evidence-based practice
and innovations emerging from an unprecedented partnership between
the UCSF Medical Center, UCSF School of Nursing, Stanford University
Medical Center, and Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at
Stanford.
Mission
To achieve this mission the Center will:
- Strengthen the scientific validity and effectiveness of patient
care practices.
- Facilitate research by bridging the gap between nursing's research,
education and clinical practice enterprises through fostering
a spirit of inquiry, expediting the transfer of new knowledge
into practice, coordinating clinical research resources, promoting
studies that are aligned with strategic improvement priorities,
and linking investigators with clinical sites.
- Foster capacity to interpret, apply and conduct research that
improves patient care safety, quality, cost and outcomes through
supporting investigative role development among clinical staff
and their leadership teams.
- Provide consultation and education to individuals, teams and
groups that contributes to improving nursing practice, patient
care and organizational performance.
- Conduct clinical evaluations of emerging technologies that advance
strategic performance improvement.
- Serve as a source for emerging new knowledge for nursing practice,
innovation transfer, clinical practice guidelines and best practices.
- Pursue interdisciplinary, interinstitution collaboration in
regional, statewide, national and international projects and studies
that are aligned with the Center's mission and advance the Center's
efforts.
