Legacy Guidelines

About the Legacy

The Stanford University School of Nursing (SUSN) Alumnae Legacy is intended to perpetuate the SUSN's tradition of excellence in nursing, practice, administration, education and research. The Legacy is a living expression of enduring commitment to nursing's capacity to impact health care and aims to:

  • Preserve the SUSN's philosophy of person-centered care,
  • Enhance nurses' professional development through support of practice, education and research, and
  • Promote nursing's role and influence in the evolving health care system.

The SUSN Alumnae Legacy provides support to advance innovative research and demonstration projects that enhance nurses' capacity to deliver comprehensive health services to patients and their families across the continuum of care. It is expected that SUSN Alumnae Legacy projects will focus on issues/questions that are strategic priorities in contemporary health care and innovations that advance improvements in clinical patient care quality, outcomes and cost effectiveness.
